Brief History
Originally built in the 1970s-- an era when interiors were splashed in pink with delightful pictures of flamingos hanging on walls-- this hotel has been a landmark in the Tulsa area for years. Throughout the many changes and renovations, it has always kept to its historical tributes as bits of Oklahoma heritage proudly decorate the walls, restaurant and lounge-- displaying memorable old time charms in modern sophistication. From generation to generation, celebrating the years has been a continual joy and inspiration to the staff, especially for those who have been here long since the days of flamingos and pink.
What is now known to be Tulsa, Oklahoma was originally part of Indian Territory. The Lochapoka and Creek tribes first settled here in 1836 finding their home under a large oak tree. The tribes named their new settlement "Tallasi" (meaning "old town" in the Creek language) which later became "Tulsa". It is all too suiting that Ramada, defined as "a shady resting place," planted its roots in Tulsa as well. Just as the old oak tree provided a wonderful place for ultimate rest, relaxation and great comfort to its Indian travelers in the past, it is our mission to passionately provide the same to all modern day travelers now.
